It seems like the battery usage is calculated instead of measured on the Velo 2, as I have USB-C right there on my handlebars of the E-bike and can just have it plugged in while using it. Despite this it registers as losing charge as you ride until you do a device restart on the app. And if you try to use it when it is fully charged it often cycles between the battery charge screen and the main screen. They should really fix this with a software update.
I also noticed that bicycle paths newer than about 5 years aren't offered for navigation. Instead, the navigation software directs you to busy streets even when a newer bicycle path will save you miles off your trip. This is the exact opposite of how you would expect navigation designed for bicycles should behave. I think this is due to Google maps prioritizing for roads over bicycle paths.
If you wear sunglasses and earbuds as you ride it may be difficult to see the screen or hear the navigation beeps. It looks like they might have a solution, but it involves a paid monthly subscription to a service that allows Bluetooth audio from the app. It feels like that service should be a freebie to me.
The GPS seems to come from your phone rather than the device, tying the device to your phone for navigation. And to function as an odometer, it requires you to record and save all of your trips. There are benefits to this though. Because your phone can do GPS with Wi-Fi signals, you can actually get velocity and tracking info when you bring your mobility scooter inside a store.
But bottom-line the best thing about the Beeline Velo 2 is the look and feel of the actual device. It's so slick that all the shortcomings I mentioned are forgivable.
